The Municipal Transport Company of Madrid (EMT Madrid) will incorporate 40 new drivers starting July 21st, following the completion of a five-week, 175-hour training course.

With this new group, a total of 220 drivers have joined the company in the past year. The training program, which lasted five weeks and included 175 hours of theoretical and practical instruction, has familiarized aspiring drivers with the daily operations of the network and service demands.
During the course, the future drivers successfully completed driving tests both without passengers and under real service conditions, in addition to undergoing medical examinations. This initiative is part of EMT Madrid's strategy to strengthen its workforce.
From late 2019 to July 2026, EMT Madrid has hired a total of 2,372 new drivers, including five from internal mobility processes. The hiring numbers have steadily increased, with 478 professionals in 2025, 369 in 2024, and 322 in 2023, reflecting a continuous effort to enhance operational capacity.
These new hires align with the commitment of the City Council of Madrid and EMT towards more sustainable mobility and the continuous improvement of public transport, key objectives of the Madrid 360 Environmental Sustainability Strategy.
