The socialist leader has called a committee meeting for this Saturday, aiming to conduct an internal review of her first year at the helm of the PSOE Madrid Ciudad General Secretariat. The gathering seeks to reinforce her leadership and establish the goal of “winning and governing” the capital in the upcoming municipal elections in 2027.
The event will feature prominent figures, including opening remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and the Secretary of Organization of PSOE-M. This meeting comes at a time when the spokesperson is trying to consolidate herself as an alternative to the current Mayor of Madrid, following a year marked by constant political confrontation with the municipal Popular Party.
“"PSOE Madrid Ciudad must be prepared to take the definitive step and govern Madrid. We are a governing party, and only from within institutions can the living conditions of the social majority be transformed."
During her first year, her tenure has been characterized by strong opposition to the mayor, who is accused of promoting a city model that, according to the socialists, increases inequalities, weakens public services, and neglects many neighborhoods. This strategy has placed the spokesperson at the center of municipal political debate, though without decisively eroding the PP's majority in Cibeles so far.
The committee will also serve to present the Agenda for Change, a proposal through which the spokesperson intends to build a municipal alternative. This agenda will focus on key areas such as housing, sustainable mobility, public services, equality, diversity, migrant regularization, peace, and human rights.
The socialist spokesperson advocates for an organization that is more present in neighborhoods and better connected with associations, groups, and social movements. Her internal message aims to mobilize party members and reconnect with voters who expect an alternative to the current municipal government.
