The white coliseum will be transformed into a "great temple of faith" to host the Pontiff's visit, one of the central moments of his apostolic journey to Spain. The event will bring together faithful from the dioceses of Madrid, Getafe, and Alcalá de Henares.
The day will begin at 4:30 PM with music, prayer, and testimonies, while Leo XIV's arrival is scheduled for 7:00 PM. According to Juan Carlos Merino, one of the coordinators, the venue "will become a great temple of faith, of hope, of testimony".
The organization details that over 24,000 people from parishes, 7,000 from associations and brotherhoods, 7,000 from educational communities, and 4,000 members of consecrated life and priests will attend. Bishops, authorities, and representatives of Real Madrid will also be present.
The program will include performances by artists such as David Bustamante and Daniel Diges, a choir of a thousand young people, and personal testimonies, including that of a migrant family. The Pope will tour the field in an electric buggy specifically designed for his safety and comfort.
Architect Cristina del Río has designed the space, dividing the field into hexagons to represent various facets of the Church. A trapeze area has been set up for delegations of migrants and social pastoral care, and the Pope will be positioned on a central stage surrounded by representatives of the Madrid Church.
Mariano Rodríguez, production director, highlighted the support of over 10,000 volunteers and the collaboration of Real Madrid. He assured that the event has all necessary permits and apologized for any neighborhood disturbances, defending the benefits of the visit.
This meeting at the Bernabéu is part of Leo XIV's schedule in Spain, which includes visits to Madrid, Barcelona, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife from June 6th to 12th.
