Upon arrival, the Pontiff expressed his joy for undertaking this trip, noting it is his first time with a "mission of faith to announce the message of God's love and charity." In statements to RTVE, Leo XIV also highlighted the presence of young people in Madrid, hoping their enthusiasm will fill the event and provide an opportunity for "the joy of faith."
Today's Saturday agenda includes several official events. After being received again by the King and Queen at the Royal Palace, the Pontiff will proceed to Plaza de la Lima for an evening prayer vigil with the youth.
This visit is considered historic, as 15 years have passed since the last time a Pontiff visited the country. Upon arrival, His Holiness greeted the King and Queen of Spain and a group of 50 families with children with disabilities, who were the first citizens to welcome him.
The official welcome ceremony at the Royal Palace is scheduled for 11:30 AM. Subsequently, the Puerta del Sol, with the Real Casa de Correos serving as the international press center, will also host activities related to the visit.
