The Spanish capital hosts the seventh foray of painter Jorge Rando into the Chinese cultural sphere, presenting a collection of sixty works at the Cultural Center on General Pardiñas Street. This exhibition, titled The Force of Expression, includes oils and drawings created from the 1970s to the present day, and is destined to be displayed at the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC), considered the equivalent of the Prado Museum in Spain.
The artist's connection with China has been forged through six previous exhibitions, where his work has been widely recognized. Recurring themes such as Butterflies, Light of the Flower, Natures, Maternities, and Miniatures, which explore life, love, suffering, and compassion, will be part of the exhibition at the NAMOC.

This cultural affinity is attributed to a shared spirituality, which transforms Rando into a “philosopher of painting” in tune with Chinese artistic tradition. The deputy director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Madrid, Xu Tingting, highlighted that the exhibition represents a cultural dialogue and an “emotional connection,” framed within what is known as “soft power” or cultural diplomacy.
The neo-expressionism of the artist, originally from Malaga, seeks to convey universal messages about the human essence through his forms and colors. The butterfly series, initiated in 2019, symbolizes the relationship between human beings and nature, seeking the extraordinary in the ordinary.
