The 40-member contingent was welcomed at Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas airport. The group includes members of the regional Fire Department, medical staff from SUMMA112, and canine handlers from the Spanish School of Rescue and Civil Protection in Las Rozas, accompanied by four rescue dogs. The unit was also supported by two structural specialists from the Madrid City Council.
The deployment was coordinated by the Madrid 112 Security and Emergency Agency just 24 hours after the seismic events. During their time in La Guaira, the team utilized advanced technology, including drones and thermal cameras, alongside canine tracking to locate survivors and assess the integrity of affected buildings.
Among their notable actions, the team assisted in the rescue of three people trapped under the rubble. Additionally, the specialists took charge of supervising one of the intervention sectors, where they coordinated and planned the work of a dozen international rescue teams present in the area.
