The project, which affects a building classified as a Property of Cultural Interest (BIC), aims to improve the technical, accessibility, and hygiene conditions of the historic site, originally built between 1913 and 1916.
The approval process was marked by discussions regarding the potential presence of the medieval city wall beneath the structure. Following several excavations, the Directorate General for Cultural Heritage of the Community of Madrid concluded that no remains would be impacted by the planned works.
“"Every precaution is necessary for a Property of Cultural Interest."
Despite the findings, authorities have mandated permanent archaeological supervision during the excavation phase. Should any remains be discovered, construction will be immediately suspended to ensure the preservation of the site's historical integrity.
