The Recreational Area of the Riosequillo Pools in Buitrago del Lozoya will host the Eclipse Festival, organized by the Community of Madrid to mark the upcoming astronomical phenomenon. The initiative, in collaboration with the Municipal Council, will feature music, food trucks, workshops, and activities for all ages.
The event, sponsored by the Pueblos con Vida program, has generated significant interest, with all 3,000 available spots selling out in just one hour. Attendees can also visit the exhibition Trío de Eclipses, provided by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Universities, which explores the historical, scientific, social, and artistic significance of these phenomena through panels.
To ensure safe viewing of the eclipse, 4,000 certified glasses will be distributed at the festival's natural setting. These units are in addition to the 36,500 special glasses that the regional government is distributing at over 50 observation points set up with local councils across the region, as well as the 20,000 already handed out at the Madrid is Science Fair and in educational centers.
Each pair of glasses includes a QR code providing access to useful information about this event. The phenomenon, not seen in the Iberian Peninsula since 1905, will be visible in 93 locations in the northern and eastern parts of the Community of Madrid. It will begin to be visible from 7:30 PM and reach its peak around 8:32 PM, coinciding with sunset.
The Regional Transport Consortium (CRTM) will reinforce public transport lines with the highest predicted demand to facilitate access to observation areas. Services will be intensified on lines 191 (Madrid-Buitrago del Lozoya) and 193 (Madrid-Pedrezuela-Venturada) from the Plaza de Castilla Interchange. Lines 725 (Madrid-Miraflores), 726 (Madrid-Guadalix-Navalafuente), 691 (Madrid-Valdesquí/Navacerrada), 223 (Madrid-Alcalá de Henares), and 222 (Madrid-Meco) will also see increased service.
