The events began around 5:00 AM on August 19th, when a police patrol responded to a report of an assault in the public thoroughfare in the Villa de Vallecas district. During the intervention, a car with several occupants ignored the officers' instructions and sped away.
A pursuit then ensued, crossing various main routes in the capital, including the A-3, M-50, M-31, M-45, and R-3, before concluding near the Madrid airport.
Once at the airport, the driver attempted to escape on foot but was quickly apprehended. The other two occupants were located inside the vehicle.
An inspection of the car revealed a safe showing clear signs of forced entry, along with tools, gloves, and an ignition device. Subsequent investigations confirmed the vehicle had been stolen days earlier and the safe originated from a burglary committed that same night at a local cafeteria.
Sources from the National Police reported that several police vehicles sustained damage during the pursuit.
The three individuals have been arrested and are provisionally charged with crimes including burglary, theft or unauthorized use of a vehicle, offenses against road safety, document forgery, and damage. They have been handed over to judicial authorities.
