The Famma Cocemfe Madrid federation has reported serious accessibility deficiencies and poor treatment of visitors at the Arlequín Theater Gran Vía, following multiple complaints from users.

The organization stated that the venue's elevator system has been broken for some time, preventing normalized access for people with reduced mobility. According to the entity, this situation violates current universal accessibility regulations and creates a scenario of direct discrimination.
In addition to architectural barriers, incidents involving Arlequín Theater Gran Vía staff have been reported. Affected individuals have complained about difficulties using accessible restrooms and described some responses from staff as humiliating.

"It is unacceptable that, in 2026, a person with reduced mobility may encounter permanent physical barriers, a lack of technical solutions, and dehumanizing responses."

The federation noted that this cultural space has undergone renovations funded by public grants from the Consorcio de Rehabilitación y Equipamiento de Teatros de Madrid, a body composed of the Madrid City Council, the Community of Madrid, and the Ministry of Culture.
A formal request has been submitted demanding the immediate repair of the access system, guaranteed use of accessible restrooms, and mandatory staff training on fundamental rights. The organization warns that if the reported deficiencies persist, it will escalate the matter to the relevant authorities and inspection services.
