The educational program is aimed at anyone interested in cultivating ecologically, understanding natural cycles, and participating in a collective urban agriculture project. Sessions will be held weekly at the Citizen Garden of La Cabaña del Retiro, running from October 15, 2026, to September 30, 2027.
Promoted by the district's municipal board, the initiative offers a hands-on learning experience, allowing participants to engage in the regular tasks of an organic garden throughout a full annual cycle. Activities will be adapted to each season: land preparation and sowing in autumn, crop protection and seedling techniques in winter, transplanting and watering in spring, and water management and harvesting in summer. The course also includes specialized workshops, seed exchanges, and visits to other gardens.
This project is based on three pillars: pedagogical, using the garden as an educational tool; ecological, employing environmentally friendly techniques; and participatory, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. It is designed for both experienced individuals and beginners, with progressive learning through observation and teamwork.
Sessions will combine theory and practice, organized into four weekly groups: Tuesdays at 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and Thursdays at 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. During the summer period, activities will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 AM.
