The Quantum Information and Foundations Group (QUINFOG) research group at the CSIC has opened a call for a predoctoral fellowship within the FPU2026 program, focusing on "Topological Quantum Synchronization" research.

The fellowship, announced under the FPU2026 call, aims to explore the fascinating intersection of quantum synchronization and topology. The project draws inspiration from classical phenomena such as the synchronized flashing of fireflies or the alignment of Huygens' pendulums, but translates them into the surprising quantum realm, where coherence, entanglement, and dissipation challenge classical intuition.
Researchers will delve into how topology, known for its edge states robust against imperfections, can protect the collective rhythm of a quantum system. The study will investigate the existence of movement patterns that emerge from the coexistence of topology and synchronization.
The methodology will combine the theory of open quantum systems, nonlinear dynamics, and numerical simulation. Networks of quantum oscillators inspired by real experimental platforms, such as superconducting circuits and photonic networks, will be studied. The results of this research could have significant applications in the development of more stable quantum clocks, more robust sensor networks, and new methods for quantum information processing.
