Minister of Health, Mónica García, ironically commented this Friday on the absence of the President of the Regional Government, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, from the San Isidro celebration events in the Pradera, stating that her attitude “is more Cancún than Madrid”.
From the Pradera de San Isidro, García lamented that Ayuso was not “with the people of Madrid” on their patron saint's day. The minister took the opportunity to criticize the institutional trip the regional president recently made to Mexico, questioning its appropriateness amidst the hantavirus crisis management.
“"We have once again encountered a president who I appreciate was in Mexico while we were managing this crisis"
García stated that, had Ayuso remained in Madrid during this crisis, she is “sure” she would have tried to “stir up controversy” and “create discord”. The minister also accused the Madrid president of attempting to “break institutional and diplomatic relations” with Mexico, an action she described as “quite serious”.
The minister further reproached Ayuso for having “continued to stir up controversy” upon her return, stating, “It seems she doesn't know how to do anything else.” The head of Health insisted that the regional president was not present “here today with the people of Madrid” during the popular San Isidro celebration in the Pradera.
It should be noted that Díaz Ayuso did attend the award ceremony for the Honorary Distinctions granted by the Madrid City Council at the Cibeles Palace this Friday, on the occasion of the San Isidro festivities.
