This initiative, announced by the spokesperson for the Madrid Executive, Miguel Ángel García, targets children born or expected to be born before January 1, 2027. Minors must be enrolled or have a confirmed place reservation in an authorized private center for the upcoming academic year.
Financial aid will range from 1,947 to 3,113 euros annually, depending on family income. Factors such as both parents working full-time, the existence of any impediment making proper care of the minor difficult (e.g., recognized incapacity or disability), whether the family is large, or if it includes a victim of gender-based violence, will be considered for allocation.
Through this call for aid, the freedom of choice for families, the reconciliation of personal and work life, and the promotion of equal opportunities are strengthened, all pillars of the quality of Madrid's educational system.
Exceptionally, children over three years old with accredited special educational needs may apply for these scholarships if they require an additional year in the first cycle of Early Childhood Education. Furthermore, scholarships granted in the 2025/26 academic year may be extended if beneficiaries meet the requirements and apply for renewal.
The approval of this allocation coincides with an indefinite strike day by educators from Madrid's Early Childhood Schools, who demonstrated in front of the Ministry of Education, Science and Universities. The workers demand a national regulatory framework, greater investment, salary improvements, and reduced ratios to optimize service quality. Representatives from Más Madrid and the PSOE-M showed their support for the mobilization.
