The project, with an investment of 5.3 million euros, will be carried out primarily at night to minimize traffic disruption. Completion is expected by early 2027, resulting in 2,834 square meters of greenery spanning 400 meters.
The design covers the sides of the access ramps between the M-30 and Calle de Alcalá, as well as the bridge abutments. Unlike previous installations, the vegetation will be attached directly to existing concrete modules, eliminating the need for additional panels.
The system will feature automated irrigation using reclaimed water from Canal de Isabel II and a weather station to optimize water usage. Monitoring sensors will track substrate moisture and temperature to ensure the health of the over thirty selected Mediterranean plant species.
This initiative is part of the Parque Ventas project, which aims to create a pedestrian link between the Salamanca and Ciudad Lineal districts. It follows similar projects on Avenida de la Ilustración, with further installations planned for the Vallecas bridge.
