Following the Pontiff's stay in the capital, Ayuso wished him a "great stay" in his next destinations, Canary Islands and Barcelona. "Madrid will continue to be, as always, his home to look up and continue being a crossroads, a great place in the world to be and celebrate life," the president emphasized.
During a press conference held at the Real Casa de Correos, which served as the International Press Center for the papal visit, Díaz Ayuso thanked the Pontiff for choosing the region as the first European capital on his apostolic journey and for staying for so many days. She stressed that Madrid's image to the world "has been incredible," in terms of "coordination, security, respect, and beauty."
“"Being Catholic is being universal, just as the Church is."
Díaz Ayuso expressed her conviction that, through his words, the Pope "intended to reach the entire world, whether one has faith or not, whether one is a believer or Catholic or not." In her view, the Pope represents "a broad voice to the world that preaches the Gospel and, above all, a broad and generous perspective on global challenges" such as immigration, imbalances, vulnerability, or Artificial Intelligence, issues that "do not recognize borders."
