The Provincial Court of Madrid has issued a search and arrest warrant, along with an order for imprisonment, for Francisco M.S., one of the individuals involved in a road rage incident on the M-30 that led to the death of a third driver, following his absence from Wednesday's court session.
The incident, which occurred in July 2021, involved Francisco M.S. and Rafael M.F., who were allegedly driving at speeds exceeding 170 kilometers per hour in the M-30 tunnels. The resulting collision caused the death of Juan A.L., a doctor who was not involved in the dispute. The Prosecutor's Office is seeking a 15-year prison sentence for each of the accused.
Francisco M.S.'s failure to appear at the scheduled start of the trial at 10:00 AM forced a suspension of the session for over two hours while attempts were made to locate him. Civil Guard agents went to his home in Loeches, a municipality in Madrid, but he was not found there or in the vicinity.
The court session scheduled for Thursday remains on hold, awaiting the possible appearance of the absent defendant. However, if Francisco M.S. does not appear within five days, the jury may be dissolved, and the trial would have to restart, according to judicial sources. Surprise was evident among those present in the courtroom, as the accused had attended previous sessions and regularly signed in at the courts.
Francisco M.S. is charged with reckless driving with conscious disregard for the lives of others, in conjunction with homicide and injuries. Meanwhile, Rafael M.F. is also accused of an alleged crime of driving under the influence of drugs, in conjunction with reckless driving with disregard for the lives of others, homicide, injuries to an injured driver, and against road safety for driving without a license due to loss of points.
