The acclaimed Madrid band Alcalá Norte is set to perform a free concert at the Puente del Rey esplanade on May 2nd, a significant date for the capital, as hinted by the group on social media.

Although official confirmation is still pending, Pablo Prieto, the band's bassist and social media manager, has dropped several clear clues. Last Monday, Alcalá Norte's official account on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) posted: “In May we play in Madrid for free.” Subsequently, in response to a user, a photo of the Dos de Mayo square was shared, directly referencing the event date.
Speculation began on March 28th with a tweet from Prieto asking about the suitability of the Puente del Rey esplanade. Days later, a photo montage overlaying Francisco de Goya's painting The Second of May 1808 in Madrid onto the Puente del Rey location on Google Maps, dispelled any doubts about the venue and date.

This concert follows a successful period for Alcalá Norte. In 2024, their self-titled debut album earned them the Music Academy Award for best new artist. The year 2025 solidified their rise, with sold-out venues and festival appearances. They recently released ‘El hombre planeta’ (The Planet Man), the first preview of their upcoming album, which will be presented at the Movistar Arena on February 20th, 2027.
The Puente del Rey Esplanade is no stranger to major musical events. Last year, it was the main stage for the Dos de Mayo Festivities, where the also Madrid-based band Carolina Durante gathered over 20,000 people, demonstrating the venue's potential to host large audiences.
