The festivities will officially commence on Saturday, August 22nd, with the traditional offering by the peñas (festive groups), the presentation of the Fair Ladies, and the opening speech by the APHISA Association, commemorating its 50th anniversary and its work for inclusion. The celebrations will conclude on Sunday, August 30th, with the float parade and a fireworks display.
The Recinto Ferial de la Isla del Colegio will be the epicenter of the celebrations, opening its doors on the afternoon of Friday, August 21st. The Plaza de Cervantes will host the Feria de Día (Day Fair) with music for all audiences each day. Other key venues include the Huerta del Obispo, Parque O’Donnell, and the streets of the Historic Center, in addition to activities in the city's five districts.
The musical lineup features national artists such as Loquillo (August 22nd), the Muralla Pop Fest (August 27th), Chenoa, Fangoria, and Coyote Dax at the Muralla Camp (August 28th), and Vanesa Martín (August 29th) at Huerta del Obispo. The Sementales park will offer music from local artists, and the Plaza de Cervantes will feature orchestras and DJs.
The Teatro Salón Cervantes will present a luxury lineup of plays, including ‘La pasión infinita’ (August 21st-22nd) starring Pepón Nieto, ‘Alcalá Comedy Show’ (August 23rd), Yllana's ‘Gool’ (August 26th-27th), ‘Canadá’ (August 28th), and ‘Mejor no decirlo’ with Imanol Arias and María Barranco (August 29th-30th).
The Patio de Santo Tomás de Villanueva will host music and dance cycles, featuring the Ballet Flamenco de Cristian Díaz (August 23rd), the Compañía de Danza Española Camino de Vuelta (August 24th), and the Compañía Esquivel (August 25th), among others.
Children will enjoy over fifty activities spread across all neighborhoods, including inflatables and games. The Trofeo Cervantes of RSD Alcalá will celebrate its 59th edition on Saturday, August 29th, and various sports tournaments will be held in municipal facilities.
Guided tours such as ‘Conoce Alcalá con tu familia’ (Get to know Alcalá with your family) and ‘Patrimonio a la luz de la luna’ (Heritage in the moonlight) will be offered. The Gigantes y Cabezudos (Giants and Big-heads) parade figures will be exhibited at the Capilla del Oidor, and the Quinta de Cervantes will present the collective exhibition ‘Pincel y cincel’ (Brush and chisel). The traditional exhibition of the Armed Forces, Security Forces, and Firefighters will take place on Saturday, August 29th, at the Ciudad Deportiva del Val.
The closing of the festivities on August 30th will feature the float parade with a new route and a fireworks display at Huerta del Obispo. The bullfighting program, from August 27th to 30th, will include prominent figures such as Diego Urdiales, Alejandro Talavante, Fernando Adrián, and Emilio de Justo.
