These actions will be carried out at various points across the network, covering municipalities such as Madrid, Tres Cantos, Alcalá de Henares, Coslada, Meco, Pinto, Getafe, Parla, and Fuenlabrada. The measure addresses the need to increase protection in areas experiencing significant urban development and high population density.
A substantial portion of the investment, specifically 2.8 million euros, will be allocated to installing over 5.5 kilometers of enclosures in sections of the Henares Corridor (lines C-2, C-7, and C-8), passing through Madrid, Coslada, Alcalá de Henares, and Meco, as well as Azuqueca de Henares in Guadalajara.
Additionally, a contract worth 825,000 euros has been awarded to install 1.6 kilometers of new fencing between Madrid and Tres Cantos, serving line C-4b, and at another location in Alcalá de Henares. Another 2 million euros will be invested in the renovation and construction of 4.6 kilometers of enclosures in Pinto, Parla, Getafe, and Fuenlabrada, along which line C-4 operates.
The new fences, to be installed on both sides of the railway platform, will be urban-style, standing 2.5 meters high, and will consist of metal mesh fixed to concrete blocks or simple torsion fencing, adapted to the specific needs of each section. These initiatives are part of the Madrid Commuter Rail Plan and may receive co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Within this framework, the contracting process is also underway for installing an additional 1.7 kilometers of fencing in Madrid, Coslada, and Alcalá de Henares, as well as in Cabanillas del Campo (Guadalajara), with a budget nearing one million euros. In recent months, over 11 kilometers of new enclosures have already been installed in Las Rozas, with an investment exceeding 3.5 million euros, and nearly two kilometers in the Montecarmelo neighborhood, for over 630,000 euros.
Interventions have also taken place around El Barrial station (Pozuelo de Alarcón), serving lines C-7 and C-10, and at Alpedrete station (line C-8b), with an investment of 600,000 euros for 1.3 kilometers of fencing. Currently, Adif is working on installing 1.8 kilometers of new enclosures in El Escorial and Zarzalejo, on the Madrid Chamartín-Hendaya line (line C-8a), with an investment exceeding 800,000 euros.
