This three-year contract will focus on the long-cycle maintenance of the 9000 series convoys. This process involves the complete disassembly of the trains for detailed inspection, repair, or replacement of essential components.
Key elements to be reviewed include bogies, motors, braking systems, and couplings. These interventions, carried out approximately every seven years, are crucial for extending the lifespan of the rolling stock and ensuring that trains return to service in optimal safety and performance conditions.
“"This measure responds to the foreseeable increase in trains that will require this type of overhaul in the coming years."
The technical process is exhaustive, requiring trains to be lifted and disassembled piece by piece for a complete review of all their systems. The contract also includes complementary tasks such as wheel maintenance and adjustment, as well as technical assistance for any incidents that may arise during the execution of the work.
Lines 7 and 10 are two of the busiest corridors in the Madrid Metro network. Line 7 connects Pitis with Hospital de Móstoles, while line 10 links Puerta del Sur with Colonia Jardín. This investment complements the ordinary maintenance that Metro carries out periodically, including monthly checks and broader reviews every two years, to prevent breakdowns and ensure service continuity across the entire network.
