The initiative aims to inform residents about the importance of understanding this disease, recognizing its warning signs, and supporting the awareness and prevention efforts carried out by the Red Cross. The mayor, Alejandro Navarro Prieto, and the Councillor for Welfare, Education, and Immigration, Rubén Martínez, visited the information booth set up on Calle Enmedio this morning.
Prevention and information are crucial for timely action in case of a stroke. Therefore, the campaign focuses on the importance of a rapid response to symptoms, as recognizing the signs and seeking urgent medical assistance can be decisive for the affected person.
Calle Enmedio in Torrejón de Ardoz has become a space to remind citizens that knowing the symptoms of a stroke can help save lives.
World Stroke Day has been celebrated every October 29 since 2006, initiated by the World Stroke Organization, with the aim of raising awareness about the severity of this disease, promoting its prevention, and improving knowledge of its symptoms.
Warning signs of a stroke include the sudden onset of difficulty speaking, facial asymmetry, or loss of strength in an arm. If any of these symptoms occur, it is recommended to call 112 immediately without waiting for them to disappear.
