The San Fernando de Henares City Council has installed new bins for used clothes and vegetable oil in twelve locations across the city to promote recycling and prevent pollution.

The San Fernando de Henares City Council, through the Department of City Maintenance and Environment, has launched a new service by installing specific containers for used clothing (dark grey) and used vegetable oil (orange) in twelve strategic locations within the city. The aim is to give a 'second life' to textiles and prevent water pollution caused by vegetable oil.
The new recycling points are located at: Paseo de Batán (next to Rosalía de Castro roundabout), Paseo de los Pinos (near the entrance to the Justo Gómez Salto Sports Center), Calle Toledo corner of José Alix Alix street, Avenida de Montserrat (at the junction with the La Presa street roundabout), Calle Nazario Calonge (at the intersection with Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio street), Calle Coslada (opposite the José Saramago Multifunctional Center), Plaza de Fernando VI (La Presa street access), Avenida Enrique Tierno Galván with La Solana street, Plaza de Ondarreta (opposite the San Fernando II Health Center), Avenida de San Sebastián (next to Jarama Metro station), Avenida de Algorta with Avenida de Zarauz (near Metro Henares), and Avenida Albert Einstein with Avenida de Somorrostro.
The containers are identified: the orange one for vegetable oil, which must be placed in closed plastic bottles, and the dark grey one for used clothing, accessories, and shoes, which should be clean, dry, and bagged.
Furthermore, the Bulky Waste Collection Service has been expanded, now available for request on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, instead of only Tuesdays. To simplify the application process, a web application has been launched, also valid for the Mobile Waste Collection Point. This service allows users to request collection and obtain a QR code for the Mobile Waste Collection Point, which operates on the first Saturdays of the month at Plaza 1º de Mayo and on subsequent Saturdays at Plaza Gallarta, from 08:00 to 13:00.
Using these two services results in a 50 euro discount on the waste tax. Taxpayers only need to register on the digital application to receive this reduction, without requiring further in-person procedures.
For residents over 65 who do not use technology, alternative registration methods are available to access the deduction: by calling 91 675 18 10 for Bulky Waste Collection, or by providing details in person at the Mobile Waste Collection Point. They can also resolve queries at the City Hall (plaza de España s/n – ground floor) from Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 14:00.
