The city of Torrejón de Ardoz will be dressed up to host its 2026 Patron Saint Festivities, an event scheduled from October 2nd to 4th. The festive program promises to be one of the most comprehensive of the year, including a varied offer of concerts, religious ceremonies, and traditional events.
Among the most notable musical performances are the orchestras Panorama and La Misión, as well as concerts by artists such as Bertín Osborne and Los Chunguitos. The Moonkey Party-Joven, featuring several DJs, will also be part of the lineup. All concerts will offer free admission and will take place at the Ferial Concert Venue and the Plaza Mayor.
An event making a strong comeback is the XI Encounter of Giants and Big-Heads, which will bring together 17 troupes with approximately 600 participants and fifty figures. This parade, which will feature troupes from Portugal and Andorra, will march through the streets of the city center on the afternoon of Saturday, October 3rd, and the morning of Sunday, October 4th.
As a significant novelty, the Virgen del Rosario Coronada will be named honorary mayor of Torrejón de Ardoz. This appointment, requested by Mayor Alejandro Navarro and advocated by brotherhoods for 30 years, will be formalized in the Municipal Plenary on October 2nd, with the handover of the mayoral staff taking place on October 4th at the San Juan Evangelista church.
The religious ceremonies, centered at the San Juan Evangelista parish, will include the traditional Novena, the Rosary of the Dawn, the Flower Offering (celebrating its 50th anniversary), bell ringing, the Solemn Salve, and the High Mass followed by the procession of the Virgen. The Brotherhood of the Virgen del Rosario, presided over by Cristina Vidales, has highlighted the special significance of this year's Flower Offering.
The official opening speech for the festivities will be delivered by the futsal player Mario Rivillos, captain of the Spanish national team. Mayor Navarro expressed the city's pride in having a European champion as the speaker, emphasizing the player's return to his home club, Inter.
The program also includes a Homage to the Flag ceremony on Sunday, October 4th, featuring an aerial and ground parade with the Air Force Parachute Acrobatic Patrol (PAPEA) as the guest of honor.
The official presentation was attended by Mayor Alejandro Navarro, Councilor María Eugenia Gil, Brotherhood President Cristina Vidales, and the President of the Giants and Big-Heads Troupe, David Girona. The mayor highlighted the work of the Peñas (local clubs), who add a "special flavor" to the festivities, particularly in the Calle de las Peñas.
