The Plaza de Cervantes in Alcalá de Henares was the setting last Saturday for the parade of the Brotherhood of First Sergeants of Spain (HECAPE), culminating the seventh edition of its national gathering.

The central event brought together veterans from the three branches of the Spanish Army in the Complutense city. The mayor, Judith Piquet, accompanied by the third deputy mayor, Gustavo Severien, and councilor Antonio Saldaña, presided over the event.
Alongside the president of HECAPE, Félix Duque Cabanillas, the mayor reviewed the veteran troops. The ceremony included a tribute to the National Flag and to the fallen of the Armed Forces, as well as to members of the State Security Forces and Corps and all those who served Spain.
The day concluded with the presentation of decorations to several veterans for their contributions to the brotherhood. The mayor highlighted the historical "strong ties" between Alcalá de Henares and the Spanish Army, acknowledging the "commitment, deep feeling, and immense pride" of the first sergeants.

"A city that maintains a historic and close link with the Spanish Army, as is recognizable in many buildings, streets, and squares of Alcalá, as well as in the memory and hearts of the people of Alcalá."

Judith Piquet · Mayor of Alcalá de Henares

"We are moved alongside you by the strong commitment, the deep feeling, and the immense pride with which you continue to hold the rank of first sergeant, so emblematic in the Spanish Army, and you strengthen unity among veterans."
