The University of Alcalá (UAH) celebrates the excellence of its research community through two prominent initiatives: the presentation of the Doctora de Alcalá 2026 Awards and the organization of the course Shaping research for FP10.

The University of Alcalá emphasizes the importance of research as a fundamental pillar of its identity and social contribution, highlighting that its strength lies in the people who make it possible. The institution points out that progress in research is fueled by both individual talent and the collective capacity to recognize and promote it.
As a testament to this commitment, the UAH notes that 98 female researchers are included in the CSIC ranking 'Spanish Female Researchers and in Spain 2026', and 44 of its researchers are among the top 2% most cited worldwide in their respective fields, according to the Standford 2026 ranking.
During the week of October 27th, the Doctora de Alcalá 2026 Awards ceremony will take place, recognizing the excellence of female researchers at a national level. This year, the awards honor senior researchers Miren López de Alda Villaizán and Mª Carmen Llorente Cejudo, and junior researchers Izaskun Maite Jiménez Serra and Gemma Mestre Bach, in fields such as Astrochemistry, Psychology, Educational Technology, and Environmental Chemistry.
Concurrently, as part of the EUGLOH alliance, the UAH is organizing the course Shaping research for FP10: Preparing EUGLOH Universities for the next Framework Programme. For one week, over 40 international research managers will share experiences to face the challenges of the next European Framework Programme, recognizing the crucial role of these professionals in transforming ideas into projects and bringing results closer to society.
Both initiatives reinforce the UAH's vision that scientific excellence requires talent, recognition, collaboration, and supportive structures. The university acknowledges the persistent difficulties in research careers and reaffirms its institutional commitment to strengthening collaboration and supporting talent.
