The Department of Seniors of the Torrejón de Ardoz City Council has launched a new edition of the 'Los Veranos de Las Veredillas' program, which will offer free workshops and activities during the first weeks of July.

The main objective of this initiative is to promote active aging, well-being, and social participation among the municipality's older residents. Registration for participation opened on July 8th and 9th at the Department of Seniors itself, located at Avenida Virgen de Loreto, 2, during public service hours from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Should the number of applications exceed available spots, participants will be selected through a lottery. Subsequently, the lists of admitted participants will be displayed at both the Department of Seniors and the Las Veredillas Senior Center.
The program will be led by volunteer seniors, who will share their experience and knowledge with other participants, thereby fostering collaboration and interaction among neighbors of different ages within the senior community.
Planned activities include a mobile phone management workshop to enhance digital skills, a memory workshop, relaxation sessions, line dancing, sports gymnastics, a facial self-lifting workshop, Sevillanas dance classes, and guided urban tours of Parque Europa.

"This initiative reflects the important role our seniors play in the life of the city. Thanks to their involvement and generosity, they will share their knowledge and skills with other neighbors, demonstrating that experience is a fundamental value for continued learning and active participation in society."

Alejandro Navarro · Mayor

"It is a magnificent opportunity to stay active during the summer period, learn new skills, exercise, and enjoy healthy activities in an environment of coexistence and participation."

Ana Verónica González · Head of the Department of Seniors
The Head of the Department of Seniors also expressed gratitude for the collaboration of the volunteers involved in organizing and running this program.
