The Torrejón de Ardoz City Council has organized an extensive program for Literature Month, spanning April and May, highlighting encounters with renowned authors, the traditional reading of Don Quijote, and various cultural activities for all ages.

Among the most anticipated events are the literary encounters with nationally recognized figures. On April 30, Jero García will present his work Camino de vuelta. Subsequently, on May 13, bestselling author Juan Gómez Jurado will discuss his novel Mentira. Finally, Santiago Díaz will conclude this series of encounters on May 26 with the presentation of El Amo. Additionally, the Gabriel Celaya Library will host presentations by local authors on April 14, showcasing regional talent.
The program also includes traditional and artistic events. The ATENEA Association will organize a continuous reading of Don Quijote at the Casa de la Cultura on April 23. The day before, on April 22, the XXVI School Literary Contest will take place. Dance will have its moment with a performance by the Aída Gómez Spanish Dance Company on April 18 and the commemoration of International Dance Day on April 29. On May 1, the Plaza Mayor will host a historical reenactment of May 2.
For children, Puppet Saturdays and Sundays in the Plaza Mayor will feature classic stories such as Snow White and Puss in Boots. Municipal libraries will complement this offering with creative writing workshops, engravings inspired by Lorca, and musical storytelling, aiming to foster a love for reading from an early age. The Thursday Film Series, at the Casa de la Cultura, will screen the film Father, Mother, Sister, Brother on April 16.
As part of initiatives to promote reading, a dozen local bookstores will offer special discounts. From April 20 to 26, a 5% discount will be applied to book purchases for those who bring a used book, and on April 23, the discount will increase to 10%. The collected books will be donated to an NGO. Participating bookstores include Castillejo, La Repro Papelería, Librería Abascal, Librería Iuvenis, Librería Lisboa, Librería Papelería Cym, Papelería Arcón 5 Capali, Papelería Eurotorrejón, Papelería Librería Nanos, and Papelería Librería Garabatos.
