This municipal strategy groups diverse projects aimed at boosting parking supply, responding to the growing demand from residents. The plan includes the creation of new free surface parking areas, the construction of multi-story parking facilities, and the allocation of spaces in municipal car parks for residents, thereby alleviating pressure in high-demand zones.
Over recent years, new parking spaces have been established in various neighborhoods. Notable actions include the multi-story car park adjacent to the Cercanías station, as well as new parking areas in districts like Parque Cataluña, Soto Norte, Barrio del Castillo, and the calle Francia area.
Additionally, new calls for the sale of spaces in municipal car parks have been launched, offering residents access to parking at reduced prices.
The council frames this plan within the context of population growth and the expanding vehicle fleet experienced by Torrejón de Ardoz in recent decades, factors that have intensified the need for parking, particularly in residential and commercial zones.
The 16,000 Spaces Plan is being developed in phases, with new interventions scheduled as municipal investments progress. This program is part of a broader strategy to enhance urban mobility, including new road connections and initiatives to optimize traffic flow across the municipality.
The ultimate goal is to combine increased parking capacity with other investments that improve the city's overall functioning and facilitate residents' daily commutes.
