The new cafe, situated at Antonio Mingote street, 5, marks the brand's second opening in Alcalá de Henares and the 232nd across the Iberian region. This initiative is part of the company's strategy to expand its 'Drive Thru' business model, complementing another similar opening that took place simultaneously in San Sebastián de los Reyes.
According to the company, the 'Auto' format responds to evolving consumer habits, offering a quick and convenient option for those looking to optimize their time throughout the day. Internal tests indicate that the average time from when a customer enters the lane until they resume their journey with their order is less than four minutes.
The establishment spans 148 square meters and features 48 parking spaces for customers who prefer to dine in. The opening has led to the hiring of 20 new baristas.
The company also highlighted the building's sustainable design, constructed from scratch. It includes photovoltaic panels, a vertical garden acting as natural insulation, and a rainwater harvesting system for automated irrigation of decorative vegetation.
To celebrate the opening, the first 100 customers received a special car cup holder, designed to carry up to two drinks or one drink and a food item. The openings in La Garena and Megapark (San Sebastián de los Reyes) reinforce Starbucks' commitment to the Auto format in Spain, positioning them as pioneers in the specialized coffee sector with this service model.
