The renovation works on Ronda Fiscal in Alcalá de Henares have concluded, comprehensively improving the pedestrian space. The intervention, which involved an investment of approximately 258,000 euros, is part of other actions to facilitate transit between the Historic Center, the Venecia Neighborhood, and the areas of Nueva Alcalá and Tabla Pintora.
The Mayor of Alcalá de Henares, Judith Piquet, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Gustavo Severien and Councilor for Works, Antonio Saldaña, toured the renovated section. This thoroughfare, heavily trafficked and with a previously deteriorated pedestrian zone, borders the Venecia Neighborhood, Tabla Pintora, and Nueva Alcalá, and provides access to Parque Sementales and the football field of the Agrupación Deportiva Henares.
The intervention included the complete replacement of the sidewalk pavement and the curb connecting to the roadway, as well as the installation of new benches. "Pedestrian accessibility and the resting space have thus been improved, ensuring a more functional, safe, and comfortable environment for residents and passers-by, which is the main purpose of these actions belonging to the ‘Alcalá improves its neighborhoods’ plan," explained the mayor.
The lateral planters, previously ten separate structures, have also been unified into a single continuous structure, prepared with topsoil for future plantings, enhancing the area's aesthetics. A new phase to renovate the sidewalks up to Paseo de Pastrana will soon commence.
This action follows the intervention carried out last summer on Ronda Fiscal, between Duquesa de Medinaceli and Gran Canal streets, which involved an investment of over 680,000 euros and included asphalting, repainting, and improving road safety in school areas. Additionally, part of the river promenade's fencing in Nueva Alcalá has been renewed, covering a 700-meter stretch with an investment exceeding 90,000 euros.
"With these actions, we continue to advance in the modernization of our neighborhoods and respond to the demands of our residents, which have been neglected and overlooked for many years," stated the mayor, adding that "together we are making the most necessary and ambitious regeneration plan for Alcalá in recent decades a reality."
