The Local Government Board has greenlit the renovation and improvement project for Cruz del Siglo Park, as part of the ‘Parques con vida’ (Parks with Life) initiative. The project, with an investment of 500,000 euros, will be carried out over four months.
The project details the actions for social conditioning and restoration of the park, based on criteria of sustainability, energy efficiency, and accessibility.
The Councilor for the Environment, Vicente Pérez, explained that resting areas will be renewed, increasing green space and reducing low-value earthen areas.
Specifically, the meadow area will be expanded by 430 square meters, and arboreal and shrub vegetation will be increased with the planting of 10 trees and 1,330 shrubs of 12 different species.
Furthermore, accessibility and flooring will be improved, furniture and lighting will be renewed, sustainable irrigation will be installed, and stairs will be made accessible.
This intervention in Cruz del Siglo Park is part of the ‘Parques con vida’ project, included in the comprehensive plan ‘Alcalá mejora sus barrios’ (Alcalá Improves Its Neighborhoods). This project has an investment of over 10 million euros and affects 14 spaces throughout the city, making the Parks with Life project the most ambitious green space modernization effort undertaken in the city in the last 25 years.
