Paracuellos de Jarama Celebrates May with Extensive Free Cultural Agenda

The Paracuellos de Jarama City Council has organized over ten free activities, including theater, concerts, exhibitions, and storytelling, extending until early June.

The Paracuellos de Jarama City Council has unveiled a diverse cultural agenda for May, featuring over a dozen free or open-access activities that will run until early June, under the theme 'May: Month of Culture'.

The program kicks off on Wednesday, May 6, with the XVIII Audition Contest for students of the Municipal Music School, held at the Cultural Center starting at 6:30 PM. Admission is free until full capacity is reached, highlighting the municipality's musical tradition.
Just two days later, from Friday, May 8, to Sunday, May 10, the VI Paracuellos de Jarama Book Fair returns to Urano Street. Opening hours vary: Friday from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM; Saturday in two shifts, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM; and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, establishing itself as a key event for reading enthusiasts.
Additionally, several exhibitions will take place. From May 12 to 22, the -1 floor of the Plazas de la Cultura will host an exhibition of municipal wood carving and furniture restoration workshops. Subsequently, from June 2 to 12, the photography and painting workshops will display their works in the same space, with an inauguration on Tuesday, June 2, at 6:00 PM.
The Municipal Library on Santiago Apóstol Street will host storytelling events. On Thursday, May 14, at 6:00 PM, 'Cuenta Europa' will be presented by Sofía Voltereta. Towards the end of the month, on Friday, May 29, Maísa Barbán will offer 'Bosque' in two sessions, at 5:30 PM and 6:15 PM, for which prior email registration is required.
One of the month's highlights will be the Monologue Gala featuring Álvaro Casares, on Sunday, May 17, at 7:00 PM at the Cultural Center, with free admission. The Municipal Music School will also participate with the Children's Festival 'Music and Movement' on Wednesday, May 20, and a performance by the Children's Orchestra and Choir on Monday, June 1, both at the Cultural Center.
Classical theater will have its moment on May 30 and 31, with the municipal theater group 'Ángel Orallo y Margarita Alfaro' performing Cuatro corazones con freno y marcha atrás by Jardiel Poncela at the Cultural Center. To conclude the program, the V Dance Festival will be held on Sunday, May 31, at 12:00 PM at the Municipal Sports Center, and in June, on Sunday 7, there will be a puppet show in the zip-line park.
