The initiative aims to gather information on how citizens dispose of unwanted medicines, with the goal of identifying areas for improvement in awareness and recycling practices. The survey is open to everyone, is voluntary and anonymous, and requires only a few minutes to complete.
The results of this research, which adopts a One Health approach (integrating human, animal, and environmental health), will be used exclusively for scientific purposes. The Reuse4Food project studies the spread of antibiotics, resistant bacteria, and resistance genes in the environment and their impact on public health and food security.
As part of its outreach activities, Reuse4Food has already involved secondary school students from the Community of Madrid in educational and data collection activities related to medicine recycling and home medicine cabinets.
The organization emphasizes the importance of citizen participation, as each response will contribute to the development of future evidence-based awareness campaigns. Participants are encouraged to share the survey with family, friends, and contacts.
