The Local Government Board of Alcalá de Henares has approved the tender documents for the works to reintegrate and enhance the Borgoñón Mill and its industrial elements.

The Local Government Board, at the initiative of the Department of Historical Heritage, has greenlit the tender specifications for the works necessary for the reintegration, preventive conservation, and enhancement of the Borgoñón Mill and its industrial elements, located on the Isla del Colegio in Alcalá de Henares.
The councilor for the area, Vicente Pérez, highlighted that these projects continue the intervention line started with the stabilization and consolidation of the mill, and include the completion of its enhancement, as well as comprehensive action on the Miller's House.
As explained by Pérez, the work will involve the recovery of roofs, floors, and the industrial machinery found inside. The planned investment for this phase exceeds 400,000 euros, aiming to restore this important heritage asset as soon as possible and thus complete the comprehensive rehabilitation of the mill.
The Borgoñón Mill, also known as the Colegio Mill, is a flour mill dating back to the 15th century. It is strategically located behind the current El Val Sports Center and next to one of the entrances to the Fairgrounds, near the Youth House. Historically, it was purchased by Cardinal Cisneros in 1509 to supply the San Ildefonso Major College of the University. The building suffered severe deterioration in the late 20th century due to a fire that destroyed its roof.
