For several days, the heart of ancient Complutum will come alive with over a hundred reenactors, unique shows, and activities designed for the whole family. Attendees will be able to explore a Roman Camp, witness impressive historical reenactments, and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the ancient city.
The event, coordinated by the Tourism department in collaboration with the Historical Heritage department, other municipal departments, the Archaeological and Paleontological Museum of the Community of Madrid (MARPA), and the University of Alcalá, has established itself as one of the main cultural and leisure offerings in the region around the May long weekend.
Complutum Renacida is one of the two major tourism initiatives by the Tourism department for the month of May, aiming to match the visitor numbers of the city's autumn tourism. The Roman Camp will be set up on May 2nd and 3rd in the Ancient Roman City of Complutum in Alcalá de Henares.
This year's edition will kick off with the famous Military Parade of Complutum Renacida 2026, where Roman legions will march among ancient ruins, with standards flying and shields held high, evoking the past. Additionally, a Roman Market, with extended activity days, will be established from April 30th to May 3rd around the City Walls.
This market, an integral part of Complutum Renacida, will offer artisan displays, historical reenactments, and shows such as the 'Gran Circus Maximus', performed by European artists, transporting visitors to authentic Rome and the Roman period of ancient Complutum.
