The Department of Education in Alcalá de Henares has once again launched the 'Te doy mi palabra' (I Give You My Word) initiative, an educational program aimed at fostering reading and written expression among Early Childhood and Primary Education students.

This activity, held on the occasion of Book Day last April 23, saw the participation of twenty educational centers from the city. Each school presented a unique project based on a word chosen by its educational community, reflecting on its meaning and the reason for its selection, and accompanying their proposals with representative illustrations.
Participating schools included the special education school Pablo Picasso, San Gabriel, Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, Nuestra Señora del Val, Miguel Hernández, Manuel Azaña, Luis Vives, Juan de Austria, Infanta Catalina, Gredos San Diego, Escuelas Pías, Dulcinea, Doctora de Alcalá, Daoíz y Velarde, Cristóbal Colón, Alborada, Ciudad del Aire, Cervantes, Beatriz Galindo, and Lope de Vega.
The Education councilor, Lola López, presided over the institutional event where the works were unveiled. Representatives from each school publicly presented their chosen word, and each center received recognition along with a batch of books for their school library.

"Te doy mi palabra is thus consolidated as an initiative that promotes participation, creativity, and a love for reading among the youngest, reinforcing the role of education as a cultural driving force in Alcalá de Henares."

The words selected by the students, such as dignity, sow, heart, journey, treasures, listen, equality, community, spring, serendipity, once upon a time, echo, integration, effort, freedom, melting pot, music, and magic, reflect the schools' commitment to values education and creativity. All works will be published on the City Council's website and social media, coinciding with Book Day celebrations, to highlight the efforts of the educational community.
