The works, part of the 'Alcalá mejora sus barrios' Plan, aim to improve accessibility and safety in this significant area of the municipality. The project included the complete renovation of the pavement, adaptation of tree grates, and the installation of a raised crosswalk to reduce traffic speed.
“"With this action, we not only improve accessibility but also the safety and quality of public space in a key area of the city."
The Councillor for Public Works and Urban Maintenance, Antonio Saldaña, personally oversaw the results of these improvements. Additionally, in the coming weeks, the intervention will be complemented by the installation of new projectors at a pedestrian crossing to enhance nighttime visibility.
This initiative responds to a long-standing demand from residents, who had expressed concerns about the deteriorated pavement. The work is in addition to other recent improvements in the neighborhood, such as the investment of over 370,000 euros last summer in renovating streets adjacent to the Lope de Vega school, including Lope de Rueda, Padre Mariana, Francisco Huerta y Vega, Alonso Sánchez, Dulcinea, Juan de la Cueva, Celada, Padre Flores, and Alonso Deza.
The City Council thus reaffirms its commitment to modernizing infrastructure and public spaces in the older neighborhoods of Alcalá de Henares, with the goal of improving the quality of life for its citizens.
