“"We are very happy because in this edition we have broken a record: we have 27 bookstores distributed in 37 booths, two more than in previous years. We have expanded the space and continue to offer this wonderful Fair in Alcalá. In addition, we will have the presence of important writers who will participate in signings, which will undoubtedly attract many visitors. The weather forecasts are good and we hope the weather will be with us. It is estimated that around 80,000 people will visit the fair during these days, so we are very satisfied to be able to offer this event to the residents in a city like ours."

The XLIII Novelty Book Fair has opened its doors in Alcalá de Henares, offering an extensive literary program and a record 27 participating entities until May 3rd in Cervantes Square.
From April 17th to May 3rd, 2026, Cervantes Square in Alcalá de Henares becomes the literary hub with the celebration of the XLIII Novelty Book Fair. This event, part of Cervantes April, brings together 27 entities, including bookstores, publishers, and associations, occupying 37 stands along 110 linear meters.
The inauguration was attended by the mayor, accompanied by other members of the municipal corporation, who highlighted the growth of this edition. The fair not only attracts participants from Alcalá de Henares but also from various towns in the Community of Madrid such as Fuenlabrada, Leganés, Móstoles, and Alcorcón, as well as from other regions like Cantabria and Alicante, ensuring a diverse publishing offer.
Among the fair's notable initiatives is the 'Book x Book' campaign, which allows buyers to receive a free copy for each book purchased, thus encouraging reading. Additionally, the Alcalá de Henares City Council has published a commemorative book about the Sociedad de Condueños, written by the City Chronicler, which will be given to buyers while supplies last.
The program includes the participation of renowned authors and cultural figures, as well as activities for all audiences, with special attention to children through storytelling sessions and performances. The fair also hosts LIBROMAD, a new festival promoted by the Community of Madrid to boost the activity of bookstores and libraries in the region.
