The municipality has prepared an extensive program of free activities aimed at promoting sustainable, inclusive, and healthy mobility. The campaign, driven by the European Commission, focuses on ensuring access to efficient transport for everyone, regardless of their income level, age, gender, location, or abilities.
Among the highlighted activities is the "Learn to Ride a Bike" course, which will be held at Parque O’Donnell from Wednesday, September 16 to Tuesday, September 22, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
On Saturday, September 19, Plaza de Cervantes will host the "Mobility for All People" event (10:00 AM to 2:00 PM). This event will feature proposals such as Fundación SANDO's mobility activity "Move and Have Fun!" with circuits for children, an interactive mobile unit with informational panels and a quiz, and MONBUS's initiative "Get on Sustainable Mobility!" to discover sustainable ways to travel.
The program also includes walking routes, such as the Ecofluvial Corridor Route on September 19 and the "Route of the Parks" on September 20. Additionally, special sustainable mobility activities will be conducted with students from CEIP Miguel Hernández and CEIP Hemingway.
To conclude the week, on Tuesday, September 22, European Car-Free Day, a section of Calle Gonzalo Torrente Ballester between Calle Mariano José de Larra and Calle José Zorrilla will be closed. This action aims to reclaim public space and promote alternatives to private vehicle use.
All activities are free and require prior registration, with the goal of fostering more sustainable and accessible mobility in Alcalá de Henares.
