For two days, Alcalá de Henares will become a large open-air cultural stage. The program combines the opening of historical spaces with guided tours, music, theater, and dance performances, family-friendly activities, and craft workshops, in addition to manifestations of intangible heritage.
The aim is to bring the city's rich heritage closer to residents and visitors, offering the opportunity to discover monuments, museums, and unique spaces through cultural and artistic experiences for different ages and interests. Activities with limited capacity will require prior registration or reservation.
On Friday, September 11, the XXXIII International Humor Arts Exhibition will continue at the Antiguo Hospital de Santa María La Rica. There will also be oral storytelling by Légolas Colectivo Escénico, visits to the historical hall of the Sociedad de Condueños and the courtyard of the former Hospedería de Estudiantes pobres, and a concert from the International Plectrum Festival at the Capilla de San Ildefonso.
The opening day will also include a performance by Cienfuegos danza with 'Emigradas-Loca' at the Corral de Comedias, a heritage workshop with 'molds and clay' at the Centro Sociocultural Gilitos, guided tours of the BRIPAC museum hall, a concert by the Schola Cantorum de Alcalá de Henares in the Ruinas de Santa María, and the night route 'Discover Alcalá at night'.
On Saturday, September 12, the offerings expand with the opening of various museums such as the Casa Natal de Cervantes, the Archaeological and Paleontological Museum of the Community of Madrid, Complutum, the Casa de Hyppolitus, and the Antiquarium. The Torre de Santa María will also be accessible.
The International Humor Arts Exhibition will continue, and more guided tours of the BRIPAC museum hall will be offered. The Plaza de Cervantes will host the XI VespAlcalá edition with an exhibition of classic scooters.
The routes 'Rutas y Leyendas de Alcalá' and 'Alcalá y San Ignacio de Loyola' will depart from the Casa de la Entrevista. The Monumental Staircase of the Escolapias can be visited, and there will be a family dance workshop at the Antiguo Hospital de Santa María La Rica.
The International Plectrum Festival will feature the duo Gertrud Weyhofen and Thorsten Drücker at the Capilla de San Ildefonso. The company Cienfuegos danza will present 'Emigradas-La Lunares' at the Corral de Comedias.
The history of the Hispanic economy in the Golden Age will be explored at the Hospital de Antezana with Earl Jefferson Hamilton. The Church of the Hospital de Antezana will host 'Music by candlelight'.
The comedies 'Hippolytus y Laetitia' will be performed in the Ruinas de Santa María, and contemporary dance 'Cuerpo de tiempo' at the Antiguo Hospital de Santa María La Rica. The Banda Sinfónica Complutense will offer a street parade.
Saturday night will conclude with the 'Discover Alcalá at night' route, the visual spectacle 'Drak Flama' in Libreros-Plaza de Cervantes, and the performance of 'Laetitia' and 'Hippólytus' in the Ruinas de Santa María.
