Participating chefs presented their culinary creations to the jury at the Hospitality School. The event was attended by Isabel Ruiz Maldonado, deputy mayor and tourism councilor.
From September 25 to 27, participating restaurants will offer their dishes in tasting format, inviting residents and visitors to explore the city through a gastronomic route. Subsequently, a professional jury will select ten finalists, with the final competition and awards ceremony scheduled for September 29. The Cervantes Gastronomic Award will also be presented to journalist María Zarzalejos.
The tourism councilor highlighted the initiative as a "showcase for tourists and visitors," emphasizing the creativity and knowledge of local chefs. According to Ruiz Maldonado, the contest underscores quality gastronomy as a "key element of Alcalá de Henares's tourism development."
Ruiz Maldonado emphasized that Alcalá is increasingly establishing itself as a benchmark in gastronomic tourism. She thanked the work of the Alcalá Gastronomic Association, chaired by José Valdearcos, as well as the Alcalá Hospitality and Tourism School, directed by María Ángeles Sánchez, both of whom were present at the event.
The participating restaurants in this edition are: Acrópolis Greek Taberna, Ki-Jote Fusión Mediterránea, Restaurante Híbrido Experience, Restaurante Skrei Noruego, Magistral Gastrotaberna, Restaurante Laventae-PCM Forum Alcalá Hotel, Fino Bar Restaurante, Restaurante Casino Alcalá, Parador de Alcalá – Restaurante Santo Tomás, Hostería del Estudiante – Parador de Alcalá, Restaurante Talanis, Caiko Smokehouse, Nubium, Plademunt, Restaurante Imaginario, Taberna 7, and Restaurante Mesa 12.
