The project, aimed at improving mobility and accessibility for residents of both municipalities, has an investment exceeding 30 million euros. The comprehensive action will remodel the current station building and address existing accessibility issues.
Javier Corpa, mayor of San Fernando de Henares, described the intervention as "necessary" and highlighted the "concrete steps" and the "commitment to continue advancing" to make the project a reality as soon as possible. For his part, Ángel Viveros, mayor of Coslada, noted that this is "a long-standing demand" that both city councils have requested regardless of the central government's political party.
Local leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining constant dialogue with ADIF and establishing a common framework for action. The president of the railway infrastructure manager confirmed that the project is already prepared and that administrative phases will progress following a forthcoming technical meeting.
The mayors will soon inform the La Unión del Barrio de la Estación Neighborhood Association about these developments. This entity has called for a demonstration this Saturday, which will be attended by the municipal government spokesperson, Leticia Martín, and the local executive councilor of San Fernando de Henares, Antonia Muñoz.
