The incidents primarily occur when large sporting events are held, especially those involving Atlético de Madrid at the nearby Riyadh Air Alcalá de Henares Sports Centre. On these occasions, the area's parking becomes saturated, and some attendees use the external parking of the municipal complex in Espartales.
Conflict arises when these events conclude after the municipal parking lot's closing hours, set at 11:00 PM on weekdays and 10:00 PM on weekends and holidays. Vehicles not belonging to regular users of the facilities remain inside.
The most recent events, denounced by CGT on the weekend of September 12th, included stone-throwing, insults, and threats directed at the security controller responsible for closing the facilities. At that time, municipal staff also leave the premises.
The union asserts that these episodes are not new and that the management of the Sports City is aware of the situation, regretting that no measures have been taken to date.
CGT believes basic measures are necessary, such as clear signage of the closing hours at the parking lot entrances and enhanced protection for both the facilities and the workers.
Consequently, the union's prevention delegates have formally requested the City Council to urgently adopt the necessary actions to prevent these incidents from recurring and ensure the safety of people and facilities.
The document, dated in Alcalá de Henares on September 21st, 2026, has been sent to the municipal departments of Human Resources and Sports.
