The Nuevo Baztán Town Council has announced an investment of 278,205.62 euros, sourced from European funds, for the renovation of streets and squares in the municipality's historic center, aiming to improve accessibility and preserve its heritage.

This significant action, framed within the Sustainable Tourism Plan in Destination (PSTD), will be fully financed by European funds. The project, identified with file number SAG/CT/1074/2025 and processed through the State Contracting Platform, includes works for the conditioning, reconstruction, and replacement of roads, sidewalks, and paths in the central area of Nuevo Baztán.
The initiative responds to the accumulated deterioration over recent years, caused by adverse weather phenomena such as cold spells, snow, and rain, including episodes like Filomena and DANAS. Additionally, the use of heavy machinery to ensure safety during these situations has also contributed to the wear and tear of the infrastructure.
The total investment of 278,205.62 euros (taxes included) will allow interventions in key areas of the Historic Complex, such as the Plaza de la Iglesia, the surroundings of restaurant terraces, Palacio Street, Vistillas del Palomar Street, and Plaza de la Cebada.

"This intervention allows us to continue caring for our historical heritage and improve the quality of public spaces, making Nuevo Baztán a more accessible, safe, and attractive municipality for both residents and visitors."

Councillor for Urban Planning
Beyond improving the condition of the roads, the action seeks to consolidate a more accessible and sustainable urban model. This approach prioritizes pedestrian traffic, restricting vehicular access to owners, authorized vehicles, and emergency services, as reported by the Consistory. With this project, the Nuevo Baztán Town Council reaffirms its commitment to improving the urban environment and enhancing its heritage, advocating for sustainable development respectful of its historical identity.
