Early on Easter Sunday morning, the doors of the Holy and Illustrious Magistral Cathedral of Alcalá de Henares opened to welcome the Risen Christ. This event, transforming the mourning of previous days into joy and hope, is a pivotal moment for the faithful and the community.
The procession featured the participation of mantilla-clad ladies, who exchanged their black attire for white, symbolizing jubilation. Following the Risen Christ, the image of Our Lady of Health and Perpetual Help accompanied the route. Hours later, at 11:00 AM, The Encounter between both images took place in the Plaza de Armas of the Archbishop's Palace, an act signifying the end of the Passion Week in the city.
Both floats were carried on the shoulders of 'costaleros', accompanied by an extensive retinue of Nazarenes in their distinctive white habits, gloves, white and sky-blue cinctures, sky-blue capes honoring the Marian vow of the brotherhood, black footwear, and the brotherhood's medal. Musical accompaniment was provided by ‘Amoy Paz’ from Guadalajara for the Christ, and the Palio Band of Musical Youths of Alcalá de Henares for Our Lady of Health.
Among the authorities present at the departure were Víctor Acosta, second deputy mayor; Antonio Saldaña, councilor for Popular Festivals; and Víctor Cobo, councilor for Consumer Affairs. Also in attendance were Gregorio Manzanares, president of the Board of Penitential Brotherhoods and elder brother of La Salud; Juan Carlos Núñez, vice-president; and Asensio Esteban, president of the Antezana Foundation. Members of Civil Protection and veteran soldiers from CIR2 also formed part of the entourage.
The Brotherhood and Confraternity of Our Father Jesus Resurrected and Our Lady of Health and Perpetual Help and San Diego de Alcalá, founded on April 8, 2012, is primarily composed of healthcare professionals. This brotherhood, which has grown significantly in its fourteen years of existence, is one of the most influential in the city, notable for its ability to bring out two floats with 'costaleros' and two musical bands.
