The Joven Orquesta Allegro Vivace (JOAV) will be the musical highlight of the evening, established as a benchmark for quality and technical rigor. The orchestra has performed in significant venues such as the Auditorio Nacional de Música, underscoring the maturity of its members and the ambition of its artistic projects.
Leading the JOAV will be Coque Jiménez, a conductor whose artistic vision and leadership have been crucial to the ensemble's development. His style is characterized by a combination of technical precision and a deep sensitivity in interpreting the Spanish repertoire, extracting the emotional richness from each score.
The program will offer a journey through the essence of Spanish culture through zarzuela, a genre that merges theater and popular tradition. Works by masters such as Ruperto Chapí, Amadeo Vives, Federico Chueca, Gerónimo Giménez, Manuel Penella, and Emilio Cebrián Ruiz will be performed.
The gala will feature two guest artists who will bring scenic authenticity: soprano Lucía Abad, who will give voice to the genre's most emblematic romances, and Mar Rey, a renowned castanets soloist, whose mastery will provide the essential rhythmic pulse of Spanish tradition.
This concert promises a vibrant overview of the Spanish lyrical genre, from the brilliance of orchestral preludes to the intensity of the fandango and the festive character of the pasodoble. The collaboration of the Department of Festivals and Popular Traditions highlights the event's importance for the city, valuing music that has moved generations.
The Zarzuela Gala: Spanish Anthology will take place on Sunday, April 12, at the Auditorio Paco de Lucía in Alcalá de Henares. Tickets are available from 12€ on Giglon or at Juventudes Musicales de Alcalá de Henares.
