The musical program for the San Nicasio Festivities in Leganés, taking place from October 3rd to 12th, will include renowned artists such as Juan Magán, Mägo de Oz, Siempre Así, Fangoria, and Besmaya. The event commemorates the town's 400th anniversary and aims to establish itself as a leading festival.
The concert lineup, designed by local resident Irene Ruiz after winning a municipal competition, spans various genres for all audiences. Other performers include Nancys Rubias, Paula Mattheus, Kamikazes, Barracuda, Leize, the orchestra Panorama, and the ‘Cerca de las Estrellas’ Gala. The opening speech will be delivered by volunteers from Protección Civil de Leganés, acknowledging their altruistic work.
Mayor Miguel Ángel Recuenco highlighted this year's lineup as the "best musical lineup in recent years" and thanked the involvement of associations and local groups. The Councilor for Festivities, Almudena A. Jiménez, emphasized the goal of making the festivities "more participatory" and giving prominence to local talent, also mentioning the ‘Leganés a Ritmo Joven’ contest.
Performances will kick off on Sunday, October 4th, with the Orquesta Panorama and the Giants and Big-Heads Parade. On Wednesday the 7th, the opening speech and a tribute to Joaquín Sabina will take place. The weekend of October 10th and 11th will feature the San Nicasio Rock festival with Mägo de Oz as the headliner, alongside performances by Siempre Así, Nancys Rubias, and Fangoria.
On Monday, October 12th, the musical performances will conclude with Paula Mattheus and the duo Besmaya. In addition to music, the festivities will include the 48th San Nicasio Popular Race on Sunday the 11th and a popular paella on Monday the 12th.
As is traditional, religious events in honor of San Nicasio will also be held, including a floral offering, the High Mass, and a solemn procession.
