The figures confirm the great success of the revival of Tapa Fest in Leganés, a gastronomic event that had not been held since 2019. During the first weekend of October, the Plaza Mayor became the epicenter of local hospitality, gathering 26 bars and restaurants that offered their best creations. The public's response was massive, with 75,000 tapas sold and over 21,000 visitors.
The mayor of Leganés, Miguel Ángel Recuenco, highlighted the importance of reviving significant events for the city. "Our commitment is precisely the opposite: to recover activity, fill our streets with life, and generate opportunities for those who create employment and wealth," stated the mayor, emphasizing the involvement of both restaurateurs and residents.
The Councilor for Local Development, José Marín, stressed that the objective of Tapa Fest goes beyond the three days of celebration. "We want many of the people who have discovered new establishments these days to return to them. Tapa Fest makes sense if it serves to continue bringing customers to our bars and restaurants throughout the year," he argued.
The initiative featured a new format that included concerts, live music, a children's area, and foosball tournaments, aiming to offer a complete experience for all families and visitors.
“"We are bringing back Tapa Fest after seven years and doing so by breaking all records: hospitality participation, tapas sold, and attendance. But behind those figures is something even more important: restaurateurs who have bet on this initiative and residents who have embraced it from the very beginning."
The award for the Best Tapa of Tapa Fest 2026 went to “Navío Ibérico” from Ancla Gastrobar, a dish made with tender Iberian pork belly on crispy bread, which received a customer rating of 4.86 out of 5.
