The City Council sends an official letter to the Hospital Management and the Ministry of Health amid professional complaints about delays of up to 7 hours.

Getafe exige información sobre las Urgencias del Hospital por falta de personal

Ayuntamiento de Getafe

The Getafe City Council has requested official information from the Hospital Management and the Ministry of Health of the Community of Madrid to resolve the situation in the Emergency Services, following alerts from professionals about a significant shortage of medical staff.

The request comes after several professionals from the hospital's Emergency Unit warned of a sustained staff shortage over recent months. According to the healthcare workers themselves, the failure to cover assigned positions is causing serious problems in patient care.
For example, during the shifts on October 26 and 27, 2026, up to six physicians were absent from the morning shift, which structurally requires 11-12 attending physicians, and these vacancies were not adequately filled.
This staff deficit, combined with ordinary patient care pressure, led to average delays of between 6 and 7 hours during those days for patients to receive their initial assessment by an emergency doctor.
Given this data, and the professionals' expressed inability to take responsibility for the consequences of such delays, the Getafe City Council urges the Hospital Management and the Ministry of Health to adopt the necessary solutions.
